Free building tool
Minecraft Sphere Generator
Pick a diameter and get a perfect block sphere or dome: rotate it in 3D, read the width of every layer, count the blocks you need, and export a layer guide or a Java function.
- Spheres and domes, 5–64 blocks
- Width of every layer
- Layer guide & .mcfunction
Downloads for builders
Use the layer guide for manual builds, mcfunction for Java creative or datapack workflows, and JSON for raw coordinates.
Layer-by-layer widths
Each layer of a sphere is a circle. Build from the bottom up: this table lists how wide the circle is on every Y level and how many blocks it takes with the current settings.

How to build a sphere
A perfect sphere, one layer at a time
- 01
Choose the size
Set the diameter and decide between a hollow shell and a solid ball. Odd diameters have a single centre block, even diameters a 2 × 2 centre.
- 02
Read the layers
Switch to layer view or use the table: every Y level is a circle of a given width. Mark the centre of your build and lay out the bottom layer first.
- 03
Build upwards
Place one layer, go up one block and follow the next circle. For creative worlds in Java Edition, run the .mcfunction to place the whole sphere at once.
FAQ
Minecraft sphere questions
How do you build a sphere in Minecraft?
Build it as a stack of circles. Start with the bottom layer, then add one circle per layer, getting wider up to the middle and narrower again towards the top. The layer table above gives the width of each circle and layer view shows exactly which blocks to place.
How many blocks are in a Minecraft sphere?
It depends on the diameter and whether it is hollow. With this generator an 18-block hollow sphere uses 792 blocks and the same sphere filled uses 3,112. The total updates as you change the size.
Should I choose an odd or even diameter?
Odd diameters have one centre block, which makes it easier to line up doors, beacons or a central pillar. Even diameters have a 2 × 2 centre and suit builds that are themselves an even number of blocks wide.
How do I make a dome instead?
Choose Dome in the shape list. It builds the upper half of a sphere, and the curve setting makes it flatter or taller, which is useful for roofs, observatories and greenhouses.
What is the biggest sphere I can make?
This tool goes up to 64 blocks across. A 64-block sphere is already taller than most builds need; the Overworld is 384 blocks tall in total.
Does it work for Bedrock Edition?
The 3D preview, layer view, table and layer guide work for any edition. The .mcfunction export uses Java commands, so on Bedrock build from the layer guide.
