Minecraft Map Viewer
See your whole Minecraft world from above without opening the game. Drop a Java world ZIP or its region files, and the viewer draws a shaded top-down map right in your browser, with block coordinates under your cursor.

Open a world
Your world is read and drawn on your own device. It is never uploaded.
Your map will appear here. Large worlds take a little while: about 15–20 seconds for a 20 km² city on a laptop.
How to use it
View a Minecraft world from above in three steps
- 01
Find your world folder
In the Minecraft launcher, open the installation folder and go to saves. Each world is a folder; zip it, or open its region folder.
- 02
Drop it into the viewer
Drop the ZIP or the .mca files onto the panel. The viewer reads every region, finds the top block of each column and shades it by height, like an in-game map.
- 03
Explore and save
Move your cursor over the map to read block coordinates, height and the block at the surface, then download the map as a PNG to share or plan your next build.
FAQ
Minecraft map viewer questions
Is my world uploaded anywhere?
No. The files are read and decompressed in your browser and the map is drawn on your device. Nothing is sent to CartoVoxel or anyone else.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
Java Edition worlds saved in 1.18 or newer, which use the current chunk format. Bedrock worlds (.mcworld) store chunks in a different database format and are not supported yet.
Why does the map look blurry or blocky for big worlds?
To keep the browser responsive the map is at most 2,048 pixels across. For larger worlds one pixel stands for several blocks; the scale is shown next to the map. Select a few region files to see an area at full detail.
Are the colours exact?
They are close but not exact: each block gets an approximate colour, and height shading follows the same rule as in-game maps (lighter when higher than the block to the north, darker when lower).
Can it show the Nether or the End?
Not at the moment. The viewer reads the Overworld region folder and skips the DIM-1 and DIM1 folders.
Can I view the worlds CartoVoxel generates?
Yes. Java worlds generated by CartoVoxel and the free city maps open here, so you can see the whole city from above before you play.
