About CartoVoxel

CartoVoxel is an independent web service that turns a real-world place into a Minecraft Java or Bedrock world. This page explains where the data comes from, how prices and credits work, and what happens if something goes wrong.

CartoVoxel is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Arnis, ArnisMC, MapSmith, Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios.

Quick Answer

CartoVoxel builds worlds from OpenStreetMap and open elevation data, at about 1 block per metre. Maps are priced by area from $3.50, new accounts get 350 free credits, and support is at support@cartovoxel.com.

Where the Data Comes From

Roads, buildings, water and land use come from OpenStreetMap, a map maintained by volunteers. Terrain comes from open elevation data. CartoVoxel does not use Google Maps data: you can search for a place the same way, but the world is built from open data.

The generation engine uses Arnis-derived code under the Apache 2.0 licence.

About 1 block = 1 metre

Worlds are generated at a fixed scale of about one block per metre, so a 1 km² area is roughly 1,000 × 1,000 blocks.

Detail depends on the map

A building missing from OpenStreetMap will not appear in the world. Well-mapped cities produce the most detail.

Not an exact replica

OpenStreetMap describes footprints, heights and land use, not architecture, so facades and interiors are simplified.

How Prices Work

You pay per map, by the area you select, with no subscription. The same price curve applies to Java and Bedrock, and you see the exact price and the queue estimate before you pay. Prices between the points in the table below are interpolated and rounded up to the next 10 cents.

Two optional add-ons change the price: the Explorer Pack (+$7.90, Java only, areas up to 25 km²) and building interiors (+$1.00). Every order also includes a free Minecraft-style city wallpaper.

Before you pay

The price is shown before you pay.

Select an area on the map to see the exact amount, by card or in credits.

How Credits Work

Credits are optional. You can also pay by card, including as a guest with no account.

Welcome credits

New accounts get 350 free credits, valid for 30 days. That covers one map up to 1 km².

Paying with credits

A map costs its price in credits, so a $3.50 map costs 350 credits. If your balance is short, you can use part of it and pay the rest by card.

Earning more

A daily check-in gives +50 credits (valid 30 days). Publishing a finished world gives +100 once per map (valid 90 days). Inviting a friend can earn +350 (valid 90 days).

Credit packs

1,200 credits for $9.90, 3,300 for $24.90, 7,500 for $49.90 and 16,500 for $99. Paid credits never expire.

Prices by Area

List prices for Java and Bedrock, without add-ons. One credit equals $0.01 of map price.

Delivery and Failure Handling

What happens after you pay.

  1. 01

    Queue and generation

Small maps are usually ready in 5–10 minutes; very large Bedrock worlds can take over an hour. The order page shows the estimate before payment.

  2. 02

    Email and download

An email with a download link arrives when the world is ready. With an account, the world also stays in My worlds.

  3. 03

    If something fails

If processing fails or CartoVoxel cannot deliver the file, contact support (support@cartovoxel.com) for a retry or refund review.

  4. 04

    Public or private

New worlds stay private unless you publish them. A published world appears on the Worlds page and on its own public page, and you can make it private again.
