Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for CartoVoxel
May 12, 2026

Introduction

CartoVoxel helps users create Minecraft-compatible world files from real-world map areas. This privacy policy explains what information we may collect, how we use it, and how to contact us.

Information We May Collect

We may collect information you provide directly, such as your email address when you request a generated map, contact support, or receive a download link.

We may also collect basic usage and device information, such as browser type, pages visited, approximate region, and error logs. This helps us improve reliability, understand which pages are useful, and prevent abuse.

If paid map generation is enabled, payment details are processed by a third-party payment provider such as Stripe or PayPal. CartoVoxel does not store full card numbers.

Map Generation Data

When you select a map area, we may process the location query, center coordinates, bounding box, selected area size, Minecraft edition, output format, generation mode, layer toggles, spawn point, customer note, price estimate, queue estimate, order status, and delivery links. This data is used to estimate, queue, generate, support, and deliver your requested world file.

Generated files and related metadata may be stored for a limited period so you can download the result or request support.

Browser Extension

The CartoVoxel Chrome extension is a browser shortcut for opening CartoVoxel from supported map pages and the extension popup. The extension does not include analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, cookies, account login, or advertising code.

On Google Maps or OpenStreetMap pages, the extension may parse latitude and longitude from the current page URL. Coordinates are used only after you click a CartoVoxel shortcut or context menu item. They may be added to the CartoVoxel URL as lat and lng parameters over HTTPS so the website can start from that map area. The extension does not store those coordinates.

Cookies and Analytics

CartoVoxel may use cookies or privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage, remember preferences, and improve the product. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Data Sources and Attribution

CartoVoxel may use map and geographic data from sources such as OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, CARTO map tiles, and terrain/elevation datasets. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License. Attribution and data notices appear near map interfaces and on relevant legal or attribution pages.

When you use location search, your typed query is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service from the browser. Map tiles are loaded from CARTO's tile service with OpenStreetMap attribution. Those third-party services may receive technical request information such as IP address and browser metadata.

Information Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with service providers that help operate the website, process payments, send email, store generated files, prevent abuse, or analyze reliability. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service.

CartoVoxel sends transactional email through Cloudflare Email Service, with Resend as a fallback provider. Your account email or checkout email is shared with these providers solely to send verification, order status, and delivery messages.

Public World Pages

Generated worlds are private by default. If you choose to publish a world from My worlds or the order page, CartoVoxel creates a public page that shows the place name, the selected map area and the city wallpaper. Public pages may appear in the CartoVoxel world gallery, on the homepage and in search engines. They never show the download file, your email address, order number or price.

You can make a published world private again at any time. The public page then stops being available right away; copies already made by third parties or search engine caches are outside our control.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep account, order and payment records for as long as your account is active and as required for accounting, tax and fraud prevention. Generated files are stored for a limited period so you can download them or request support.

To delete your account and associated data, email support@cartovoxel.com from your account email address (the Account page has a prefilled link). We confirm and complete deletion requests within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law.

Non-Affiliation Notices

CartoVoxel is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. CartoVoxel is also not affiliated with Arnis or MapSmith. References to those names are for identification, comparison, and informational purposes.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
